50g of cream or white yarn for borders

4mm dpn (or any size that meets the gauge)

4mm  circular needles (80cm)

Sizes

XS/S ( M/L, XL/2XL, 3XL/4XL)

Bust Size 30-32 (34-36, 38-40, 46-50)

Gauge

XS/S: 3.75x3.75” squares

16 st x 21 rows

 

M/L: 4x4” squares

20 st x 29 rows

 

XL/2XL: 4.5x4.5”

22 st x 31 rows

 

3XL/4XL: 5”x5” squares

24 st x 35 rows

Abbreviations

k - knit

BO - bind off

CO - cast on

p - purl

dpn - double pointed needles

st - stitch

st st - stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row)

rs - right side

ws - wrong side

** **- repeat till the end of the row

Start

Start by separating colours from each cake of yarn and roll them into their own separate balls of yarn. Make as many squares as you can from each chosen colour. Make a total of  78  squares.

To Make Squares:

Co 16 (20, 22, 24) st.

Row 1: k into each st.

Row 2: p into each st.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 for 21 (29, 31, 35) rows.

Bind off, and cut yarn.

Build Cardigan

Seam together the front panels to the back panel with one block left between the front panels, for the neckline opening of the cardigan.

 

Seam arms to the body with the same method of sewing. (See FIGURE 4).

Border’s

Pick up 128 st around the bottom of the cardigan's body. Work 1x1 ribbing for 2 inches

BO rib-wise.

 

Pick up 212 sts along the neckline and body panels in cream-coloured yarn.

 

Work 1x1 rib

Row 1: k1, p1

Row 2: p1, k1

Repeat rows 1 and 2, for 2 inches. BO rib-wise.

Cuffs (on both sleeves)

Using 4mm dpns. k in 1x1 rib 

Pick up 56 (60, 62, 64) sts along the wrist opening on each sleeve in cream-coloured yarn.

Row 1: *k1, p1* 

Row 2: *p1, k1*

Repeat the last 2 rows until row 5

Row 5: place marker every 6sts

Row 6: dec 1 st before and after each st marker. 48 (52, 54, 56) sts remain.

Row 7: dec 1 st before and after each st marker. 40 (44, 46, 48) sts remain.

 

k 1x1 rib 5.5 inches 

(if you don't want a folded cuff only work for 2.25 inches)

BO rib-wise.

Finishing

Tie and cut or  weave in all ends
