INSTRUCTIONS
Make a slip knot followed by two chain stitches. Then, make six single crochet stitches into the second chain from the hook. Slip stitch to join the end of the round. Mark the beginning of the round with a stitch marker, chain one.
Round 2: use two single crochet stitches for each stitch you already made. This gives you a total of 12 single crochet stitches for round two. Slip stitch to the first stitch to join, chain one.
Round 3: use two single crochet stitches for the next stitch, then alternate between one and two stitches. You'll end this round with 18 single crochet stitches. Slip stitch to the first stitch, chain one.
Round 4: use a single crochet stitch for the next stitch, another single crochet stitch in the following stitch, and then two single crochet stitches in the next stitch. Repeat that pattern around the circle, and slip stitch to join to the first stitch, chain one. You'll end this round with 24 single crochet stitches.
Round 5: work a single crochet stitch in each of the first three stitches, followed by two single crochet stitches in the next stitch. Repeat that pattern around the circle, and slip stitch to join to the first stitch, chain one. You'll end this round with 30 single crochet stitches.
Round 6: work a single crochet stitch in each of the first four stitches, followed by two single crochet stitches in the next stitch. Repeat that pattern around the circle, and slip stitch to join to the first stitch, chain one. You'll end this round with 36 single crochet stitches.
Round 7: work a single crochet stitch in each of the first five stitches, followed by two single crochet stitches in the next stitch. Repeat that pattern around the circle, and slip stitch to join to the first stitch, chain one. You'll end this round with 42 single crochet stitches.
Round 8: work a single crochet stitch in each of the first six stitches, followed by two single crochet stitches in the next stitch. Repeat that pattern around the circle, and slip stitch to join to the first stitch, chain one. You'll end this round with 48 single crochet stitches.
Round 9: work a single crochet stitch in each of the first seven stitches, followed by two single crochet stitches in the next stitch. Repeat that pattern around the circle, and slip stitch to join to the first stitch, chain one. You'll end this round with 54 single crochet stitches.
Round 10: work a slip stitch in each stitch. Repeat this pattern around the circle, and slip stitch join into the first stitch, chain one.
Round 11: work a single crochet in the back loop of each stitch. Repeat this pattern around the circle, and slip stitch to join to the first stitch, chain one.
Round 12: work a single crochet into each stitch. Repeat this pattern around the circle, and slip stitch to join to the first stitch, chain one.
Repeat round 12 for 19 more rounds or until the work measures 12 cm tall.
NOSE
Row 1: Single crochet in the main colour for 23 stitches. To change the colour, insert the hook into the next stitch and pull through the yarn. You should have 2 loops on the hook. Loop the new colour onto the hook and pull that loop through the 2 main colour loops. Single crochet in contrast colour for 6 stitches, chain one, and turn the work.
Row 2: single crochet twice into the first stitch, single crochet into the next 4 stitches. Single crochet twice into the last stitch, chain one and turn work.
Row 3: single crochet across the 8 stitches, chain one and turn.
Row 4: single crochet across the 8 stitches, chain one and turn.
Row 5: skip the first stitch, single crochet in the next 5 stitches, skip stitch and slip stitch the last stitch.
Row 6: slip stitch into space below (going down the side of the nose) leave stitch on hook, repeat on the row below and leave stitch on hook (continued down the side of the nose), start to change colour by inserting hook into next stitch to work in the round. Take the main colour onto your hook and complete the stitch by pulling through all four loops. Cut contrast colour yarn leaving a long tail. Continue single crochet in the main colour around the row until one stitch before the end of the round. Colour change to red yarn. Cut green yarn.
START HAT
Round 7: Single crochet until one stitch before the nose. Insert hook into last stitch before the nose and pull through loop, insert hook in space on the nose in the row above, pull through loop and keep on needle, you should have two loops on hook, insert hook into last space on the nose in between the top row and middle row, you should have four loops on your hook. Complete the stitch by pulling the yarn through. Single crochet across 6 nose stitches. Single crochet in each stitch until the end of the round, chain one.
Round 8: single crochet in each stitch until the end of the round, chain one.
Round 9: start decreasing by inserting into the first stitch pulling through, leaving a loop on your hook, single crochet into the second stitch to join the first and second loop into one stitch. Place a unique stitch marker at the beginning of the round and place 3 more stitch markers evenly on the round. Single crochet to stitch marker and decrease, repeat until end of the round, chain one.
Round 10: single crochet all stitches, chain one.
Round 11: single crochet all stitches, chain one.
Round 12: single crochet all stitches, chain one.
Round 13: decrease, single crochet to stitch marker, then decrease. repeat until the end of the row. Repeat the last four rows until there are 12 stitches left, keep stuffing along the way! Remove all stitch markers but the beginning of the round stitch, chain one.
Round 1-4: single crochet in each stitch, chain one.
Round 5: decrease every other stitch, chain one. cut long tail for weaving. Weave the tapestry needle through the last 6 stitches and pull tight
